Privacy Policy

Overview

NovaDeals is built to be browsed, not to build profiles. You do not need an account to use the site, we do not run ads, and we collect only the minimal technical information needed to keep the site working, measure which deals people find useful, and keep the service secure. This policy explains exactly what that means.

What we collect

When you click a "View Deal" link, we record that a click happened so we can count deal popularity. That record includes the deal that was clicked, the time, your browser's user-agent string, the page you came from, and a one-way hashed version of your IP address. The hash cannot be reversed into your actual IP address, and we do not store your raw IP address with click data.

Like nearly every website, our hosting providers automatically process standard server logs (such as IP addresses and requested pages) to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. If you email us at support, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to include in your message.

What we don't collect

We do not require visitor accounts, so we do not hold your name, password, payment details, or purchase history. Purchases happen entirely on retailer sites. We do not buy data about you, we do not run third-party advertising trackers, and we do not sell or rent personal information to anyone.

How we use it

We use click counts to understand which deals and categories our visitors love, which helps our team decide what to hunt for next. We use technical logs to keep the site fast, debug problems, and prevent abuse. We use your email only to reply to you. That is the whole list.

Cookies and local storage

The public site stores a small preference in your browser's local storage to remember your light or dark theme choice. It never leaves your device. Login cookies exist only for our staff who manage the site; regular visitors are never asked to log in. Because we do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, there is no cookie wall to click through.

Who we share with

We rely on a few service providers to run NovaDeals: a hosting platform that serves the site, a database provider that stores our deal listings, and image storage for deal photos. These providers process technical data on our behalf to deliver the service. When you click out to a retailer through an affiliate link, the affiliate network and retailer know the visit came from NovaDeals; their handling of your data is covered by their own privacy policies. We may also disclose information if the law genuinely requires it.

Data retention

Click records are kept while the related deal exists so our statistics stay accurate. When a deal is deleted, its click history is deleted with it. Support emails are kept only as long as needed to resolve your question.

Children's privacy

NovaDeals is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, including under Canadian privacy law and various US state laws, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information a business holds about you. Because we hold so little, requests are usually simple: email us and we will explain what, if anything, we have that relates to you and honor valid requests. You can also browse the site without clicking deal links, in which case no click data about you is created at all.

Changes to this policy

If our practices change, for example if we ever add analytics or a newsletter, we will update this policy and the date at the top of this page before the change takes effect.
